Our Camper In Training (CIT) program is for entering 8th & 9th graders. CITs spend two weeks together as a group learning leadership skills and enjoying camp activities. They spend the remainder of the camp session assisting younger groups and receiving coaching & feedback from their counselor.
Important things to know about the CIT program:
The CIT program is designed to develop the basics of leadership, professionalism, presentation & support. CITs are the oldest campers in camp- the group is coed, may be slightly larger than the other camp groups, and offers the ideal mix of social fun and leadership development. CITs have their own counselor and the session is split into 2 parts
The first two weeks of each session:
CITs spend time together as a group participating in camp activities, learning to teach and lead younger campers, practicing leadership skills, and developing an appreciation for the importance of being a role-model.
The second part of each session:
CITs put into practice their new skills, work with a different younger group each day, learn about the developmental needs of children at different ages, and observe a variety of counseling styles. When CITs feel ready, they are given opportunities to lead and put their new skills into practice. CITs meet each day with their counselor and other group members to discuss challenges and successes.
