The Boston University School of Visual Arts’ Summer Institute offers high school students (ages 15–18) an intensive visual arts program designed to help students build exceptional portfolios. Whether preparing portfolios for college admission or simply working to improve technical abilities, students are introduced to materials and methods used in professional artistic practice.
In addition to classes and studio time, students visit and study works of art in area museums, participate in special workshops in new art media, and experience summer in Boston. Students earn three college credits at the programs completion, and leave the program with photographs of their work ready to be included in their portfolios.
