    Overview

Come and feel the joy of making great music and great friends. BYU offers three programs for talented musicians ages 14–18: BYU Musicians’ Institute followed by BYU Musicians’ SummerFestival.

BYU Musicians’ Institute is for elite musicians ages 14–18 who want to further develop their talent by working in chamber ensembles coached by members of BYU’s acclaimed music faculty. This special addition to SummerFestival requires musicians to audition for acceptance into the program. Space is limited, so submit your audition as soon as possible.

Throughout the 12 days of the Choral and Vocal Institute, they will participate in choir rehearsals, staged opera scenes, private lessons as well as workshops in conducting, mindful practice, audition preparation, vocal literature, and careers in singing. Plus, participants will attend concerts, recitals, dances, and other social activities.

SummerFestival is a six-day summer camp for young instrumentalists and vocalists ages 14–18 who want to improve their musical skills and talents. All applicants will be admitted as long as there are spaces available for their instrument. SummerFestival offers instruction in more than 20 instruments, including voice. Musical styles include classical, big band, jazz, blues, and so on. Instruction is by School of Music faculty and guest instructors. Instruction is offered at the intermediate and advanced levels.
