Established in 1996 at Boston University, CityLab SummerLab provides opportunities for students in grades 10 - 12 to develop scientific ways of knowing through authentic applications of techniques and concepts associated with biotechnology, biomedical, and DNA sciences. Find out more!

CityLab is collaboration between Boston University's Schools of Education and Medicine. Founded in 1991with support from the National Institutes of Health Science Education Partnership Award as a regional bioscience-learning laboratory, CityLab supports pre-college science education through a variety of programs including SummerLab, a Mobile Laboratory, and after school programs.  CityLab programs have been modeled for science education outreach throughout the nation.

Expert instructors provide guidance and support that afford students the freedom to design investigations, learn from mistakes, analyze data, make evidence-based claims, and communicate results to peers and members of the Boston University Science community. SummerLab is offered as either a residential program or a commuter program (for students in the greater Boston area) and is accessible to students with disabilities.

SummerLab 2020 has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Information about SummerLab 2021 is still pending.
