    Overview

Volunteer in Guatemala and help support both single parents and their children. The center has babies, toddlers and pre-school age children between 3 months and 5 years old. Volunteers are needed to take care of the kids, play with them, engage in play, arts and crafts or dance. You can also help out in the kitchen or accompany the kids on outings.

This project is for parents with limited resources. This is a daycare center where the (single) parent can bring their child while they work. The kids receive pre-kindergarten lessons, behavior training, and recreational time. The project provides the children with breakfast, snack, lunch, and snack. The center has a capacity for between 15-25 kids between 3 months and 5 years old.

Due to the lack of an adequate number of staff, onsite volunteers for this project need to be proactive, willing to work with limited direction, and come with a can-do, enthusiastic attitude. ABV Coordinators will help with direction and suggestions, but this program needs enthusiastic participants.

Volunteering with children is a rewarding but challenging volunteer abroad experience. All volunteers are carefully chosen, fully screened, and should have some experience working with youth. We encourage long-term commitments for all our childcare programs, although short-term options are available in daycare facilities, after-school children’s programs, and temporary shelters for children.

Volunteers should have intermediate Spanish language skills; however, lessons are available in-country for a small fee.
