Ever dream of living on a sailboat, exploring islands, and anchoring beneath the stars each night?  If so, grab a bunk aboard the cutter/ketch Boundless and join Capt. Jeff and crew this in one of our three destinations, the Chesapeake Bay, Maine, or in the Bahamas!

Come raise the sails and chart a course this summer in this entirely hands-on, sailing adventure for teens! Does the thought of exploring islands, learning to sail, and living the life of an explorer appeal to you? Read on...

How would you like to actually live on a sailboat for a week, traveling from cities to towns to islands each day? Imagine what it's like to let the wind push you to your next destination or to drop anchor off an uninhabited island you'll explore in the morning and watch the stars above you as you fall asleep. Depending on the trip you sign onto, you might sail into Baltimore Harbor to explore the National Aquarium or step onto a WWll submarine. On our Virginia to NYC adventure we'll sail past the Statue of Liberty, see a Broadway show, walk in Times Square, or listen to live music in Central Park. On another trip you may see whales off Cape Cod, hike beaches, spend a day on a Maine lobster boat, and climb to the tops of lighthouses!

In the Bahamas you'll sail to uninhabited islands and snorkel over colorful coral reefs. Living aboard our sailing vessel Boundless you'll learn about navigation, meteorology, sustainable energy systems use on board, explore marine science, take the wheel and raise the anchor!

If this is your idea of an adventure, then come crew aboard the educational sailing vessel Boundless with Capt. Jeff and Different Drum Sailing Adventures! Choose from our week-long or twelve-day voyages to create to create a trip of a lifetime!

    Cost and Session Information

Virginia to NYC 12-day Adventure (June 15-27): Our first summer trip starts aboard Boundless on the Chesapeake Bay as we sail from Virginia to Baltimore, MD, visiting historic towns along the way. In Baltimore, we’ll go ashore to the Baltimore Aquarium and the Inner Harbor Science Center to catch an IMAX film, and then to Vaccaro’s Italian Pastry Shop! After Baltimore, we’ll sail through the historic Chesapeake/Delaware Canal and down the Delaware Bay, stopping in Lewes, Delaware for the night (and free showers!). Then it’s up the New Jersey Coast and into Atlantic City, past casinos to our anchorage. We’ll go ashore to eat at the world famous White House Subs where past presidents, sports figures, and famous actors and musicians have all grabbed a bite to eat. From Atlantic City, it’s on to New York City for three days of exploring. We’ll stroll through Central Park, attend museums, eat in Little Italy, and catch a Broadway Show (Phantom of the Opera?)! On our last day, we’ll say goodbye, unless you’re joining us for our second trip...

12-day NYC to Maine (June 27-July 7):  We’ll spend two days exploring NYC, including Times Square, Central Park, and a Broadway Show (if you’re lucky enough to combine both trips, you’ll see at least two Broadway shows!). From NYC we’ll sail past the Statue of Liberty, under the Brooklyn Bridge, past the United Nations, through the treacherous Hell’s Gate, and into Long Island Sound. We’ll spend two days sailing the Sound, anchoring for the night in front of multi-million-dollar, beachfront homes! Then it’s onto Block Island and continuing up Buzzard’s Bay to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Research Institute for a tour of its facilities and aquarium. Afterwards, we transit the Cape Cod Canal and onto the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary to watch whales feeding and transiting the area. From Cape Cod it's north past Boston, MA,  anchoring for the night in Portsmouth, NH, to tour the USS Albacore research submarine. The following day we’ll arrive in our ultimate destination, Portland, Maine! We’ll have a few days to explore Portland and sail to nearby coastal islands, kayak with seals, and have a traditional Maine lobster bake for dinner. If time allows, we’ll sail to Bath, Maine to visit the Maine Maritime Museum and see U.S. Naval Bath Iron Works where the most high-tech warships are being built!

7-day, Maine Summer Sailing Adventures (July/August): We'll sail to several of Maine's 3000 coastal islands, hike to lighthouses, kayak with seals, be on constant whale watch, search for buried treasure using hand compasses, explore coastal towns for the best ice cream or pizza, swim, collect mussels, and have a lobster bake for dinner! All this happens while you live on Boundless learning navigation, steering the ship, raising sails and hauling anchors. It's a week of exploration and discovery of yourself and our natural surroundings.

Costs: All of our trips include laughter, learning, amazement, all meals aboard Boundless, a bunk, use of all equipment on board, museum/lighthouse entrance fees, Broadway show tickets (NYC trips), boat operating costs, a Captain and First Mate, and unlimited adventure!
