Looking for a way to build critical language skills in Arabic without leaving home? Take your language learning beyond an app on your phone and connect in live, online classes with dedicated teachers in Jordan and motivated peers during a JanTerm or summer session.

Through virtual immersion and interactive small classes, you make tremendous strides in your Arabic over 5 to 8 weeks. Your curriculum is also rich with cultural content about Jordan and the Arab world. There are opportunities to converse with a native Arabic speaker and participate in virtual ‘out-of-class’ activities, such as interviewing locals in Amman, or attending a guest lecture from a professional working to resettle refugees. Outside of your language class, you also meet with an instructor each week in one-on-one office hours to ask questions and review your progress.

Offered at all levels, from beginner through advanced, both terms meet several days a week to study Modern Standard Arabic. The summer term also includes a course in Jordanian dialect. At the end of the term, you receive an official Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) score, so you have written proof of your Arabic skills for your résumé or college applications.

You can also build language skills and access local culture through an optional virtual internship with an organization based in Amman, Jordan. You gain practical experience and assist on projects that help support the work of your host organization. CET stays in touch to make sure you’re prepared and help you make the most of your experience.
