    Overview

    Take your first steps coding in python with our 1 - 1 program. In this program students will master the basics of python programming including declaring variables, condition statements, using loops, writing functions, manipulating files, and much more. Students will also learn how to use essential python libraries like numpy, pandas, matplotlib, and more.

    • Director & Founder Corey Wade is a Berkeley Unified School District credentialed educator with over 10,000 hours of classroom teaching and is a Data Science author and speaker.
    • Data science students and graduates from UC Berkeley and other elite universities are cohort leads and classroom assistants.
    • Researchers actively applying AI and Machine Learning to academic research and real world problems teach and advance curriculum.

    What will you take away?

    • An understanding of the fundamental basics of Python and programming design.
    • Students will learn the basics of variable declaration and data structures including lists, tuples, and dictionaries.
    • Students will learn to write function definitions and the use of beginner packages including numpy, matplotlib, and pandas.
    • Students will create portfolio projects to demonstrate their new skills.
    • Students will receive blockhain authenticated certificates to stand out on college applications.
    • Students will become part of the broader BCA community which includes past students and instructors who can help guide them on their data science journey.

    Who is this program for?

    This program is for students of all ages with an interest in programming. No prior experience is necessary! As an online academy, we meet with our students completely virtually and accept students from around the country.

    What is the typical meeting format?

    Typically, students meet with instructors for 1-hour per week for 12 weeks, but this can be adjusted to the students needs. Instructors also provide optional out of class assignments for reinforcement of key concepts.
