The gilded Golden Dome and statue of Mary atop the Main Building proclaim the Notre Dame campus as a place where faith is treasured and diverse traditions shared and respected. There is an intelligibility and a coherence to all reality, discoverable through spirit, mind, and imagination
from all 50 states and 100 countries. About 80% of the undergraduates and 18% of advanced students live on campus, and more than 80% are active in service learning and community volunteer activities. There are no social fraternities or sororities at Notre Dame--the residence hall is the focus of social, religious, and intramural athletic activities.
