    Overview

Tarleton State University provides an academically challenging education where learning is grounded in real-world experiences and effective teaching, research, scholarship and service. Tarleton strives to develop moral and ethical thinkers, scholars, and leaders who show civility and integrity.

With its main campus in Stephenville, an hour southwest of Fort Worth, Tarleton State University offers the value of a Texas A&M University System degree with its own brand of personal attention, individual opportunities, history, tradition and community.

Tarleton is a vibrant learning community with nearly 100 undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as a doctorate in education, within five colleges:

    • Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
    • Business Administration
    • Education
    • Liberal and Fine Arts
    • Science and Technology.

On the Stephenville campus, the Humanities building has been expanded to provide state-of-the-art communication studies, digital media, event planning and writing center.  A Learning Commons in the library provides high-tech study equipment for groups and individuals. The renovated fine arts center offers outstanding performance spaces. Heritage Hall, a 504-bed residential living and learning facility opened last fall and a companion residence hall will open in Fall 2015.

Tarleton's research centers include the renowned Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research and the Southwest Regional Dairy Center.

Tarleton has extended the reach of state-supported, affordable and convenient education through its undergraduate and graduate programs in Fort Worth, Waco, Midlothian and its Global Campus online.

In Stephenville, Tarleton offers a traditional, residential college experience with a lively campus atmosphere, intercollegiate athletics, dozens of student organizations and cultural attractions. With a student-faculty ratio of 19-1, students benefit from the personal attention, warmth and faculty interaction found at smaller, liberal arts institutions.

The university's core values of integrity, leadership, tradition, civility, service and excellence permeate Tarleton's vision to become the premier student-focused university in Texas and beyond.
