The biggest drawback about Stetson is you immediately notice there is no modern performance hall. All performances take place in a small, very old, very loud and very bright chapel. Hardly an acceptable venue for symphony orchestra, wind ensemble, opera or musical theater productions. It was the only school I toured that lacked this important feature. Part of the reason for this is that historically Stetson was primarily known as a school for church musicians and organists. Not until the late 1980s did they start focusing on a more conservatory type of music education. Still most popular majors are music education and voice.
