Founded in 1845, Baldwin Wallace University prides itself on being one of the first colleges to admit students without regard to race or gender. Located in the suburbs of Cleveland, the University blends the hallmarks of a traditional liberal arts education with an emphasis on professional and career preparation.
A private, independent college, Baldwin Wallace offers affordable excellence with a personalized approach that integrates a curriculum rooted in the arts and sciences with hands-on, real world experiences to equip graduates with career agility required in an increasingly changing world.
BW provides career-focused learning in more than 80 academic programs. Small classes and a faculty that puts teaching first offer individual attention. Students are required to apply what they learn in internships, research and leadership experiences, gaining the skills for lifelong success.
BW’s Conservatory of Music is internationally renowned and part of a thriving arts program that includes theatre and fine arts. A $25 million building for math, computer science and engineer is under construction to provide the facilities to prepare students for careers in science and technology.
The campus is located in Berea, Ohio, a neighborly, suburban community located near the airport and the extensive Metroparks system. It is just 20 minutes from metropolitan Cleveland and all of its resources for business, culture and recreation.
BW students are active, participating in more than 100 campus organizations. One in five are varsity athletes and all students find opportunities for recreational sports, fitness and outdoor activities.
With a belief that a quality education should be affordable, BW awards more than $57 million in scholarships and grants each year. Since the easiest way to control the cost of college is to graduate on time, BW’s Graduation Guarantee will cover the additional time it takes to finish if a student does not graduate in four years.
Interested students should apply to BW in the fall of their senior year, using the free online application (bw.edu/apply) or the Common App. The priority application deadline is November 1, but applications are accepted year-round. BW is test-optional: ACT or SAT scores are not required for admission, but are used for class placement. Students applying to the music or acting programs are also required to audition.
