    Overview

For over 50 years, AMDA has been celebrated as one of America’s premier performing arts institutes. With New York and Los Angeles campuses, AMDA offers four-year BFA and two-year Conservatory programs, providing students state-of-the-art resources and one-on-one attention with still-working professionals.

AMDA is the only performing arts college to offer Bachelor of Fine Arts and Conservatory Programs in Acting, Dance Theatre, Music Theatre, and Performing Arts. Students can choose from a Bachelor of Fine Arts (four-year degree program) or a certificate in the two-year program on our campuses in New York City and Los Angeles.

With over 150 performance opportunities, students are given countless opportunities to master their craft: From full-scale mainstage productions to student-directed films, performers can be found in the classrooms, in the black box theaters, and on every corner of campus. Some of AMDA's many venues include the American Opera Laboratory, BFA Mainstsage, Cafe Performance Series, Project 15 Series, Student Vision Projects, Industry and Showcase Events, Dance Workshops, Film Projects, and End-of-Semester Presentations.

AMDA is committed to providing an unsurpassed performing arts education to a diverse community of creative artists. AMDA seeks to be both the school and the stage, where students are given the support and the freedom to find their voice and to design and create their own unique artistic vision. We strive to create an environment for our students to develop the skills, confidence, imagination and power to contribute to their community as artists, entrepreneurs, visionaries, lifelong learners and conscientious citizens of the world. To achieve this, AMDA provides rigorous, performance-based training and an industry-focused education experience that inspires excellence and prepares artists with an appreciation for the universal power of transformation through art. Above all, we want to teach our students that commitment, passion, and joy are the hallmarks to a successful career!
