Mission Statement

People Making a Difference (PMD) promotes informed and responsible volunteerism by involving people in meaningful, one-time, hands-on work that meets the needs of local charities and by assisting companies and charities in building successful community involvement programs.

PMD-organized community service projects enable first-time volunteers, experienced volunteers, and their friends, co-workers, and family members to participate in a highly motivated group that often transforms project sites. It is our hope that a positive, rewarding PMD volunteer experience will encourage further volunteer participation and recruitment.

PMD occasionally organizes projects that are appropriate for children to participate if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who can work alongside youth under age 16. Youth-friendly projects contain relevant restrictions and wording in their descriptions. These projects usually involve outdoor work or painting signs for the Walk for Hunger (typically the first Saturday in March).
