Inspired by the Forbes family legacy of entrepreneurship, social action and philanthropy, the Forbes House Museum fosters discourse around civic engagement and cultural awareness.
Volunteers & Community Service Projects
The Forbes House Museum offers a variety of opportunities for individuals interested in volunteering. Volunteer placement is based on an individual’s interests, experience, abilities, availability, and on our current volunteer openings. The Forbes House Museum also provides community service projects for students. There’s something for everyone!
Opportunities may include:
- Office helper – Assist staff with general office tasks, including data entry, large bulk mailings, and filing.
- Gallery helper – Receive training to become a tour guide, and learn how to care for the museum by preparing the galleries and grounds for tours.
- Collections research – Compile research on works of art in the museum’s permanent collection.
- Event greeters – The FHM has special programs and events requiring extra help in the evenings or on weekends. Volunteers may be asked to set up for the event, greet guests or monitor galleries.
