    Overview

SUNY Cortland is an academic community dedicated to diverse learning experiences. Students grow as engaged citizens with a strong social conscience fostered by outstanding teaching, scholarship, and service.

Performing arts students work with the finest teachers of acting, voice, dance, and theory, and gain a liberal arts education at the same time. Valuable experiences and education at SUNY Cortland inspire students to excel in every aspect of life. It is what makes us unique as a college. It is what contributes to our success in the classroom, on the stage, and in the careers our students pursue. Alumni of the Performing Arts program have appeared in national and international tours, major regional theatres and the stages of New York City.

Musical theatre students participate in fully produced musicals, classic and contemporary plays, student-directed one-acts, workshops and readings of new musicals. The countless advantages of an arts education at SUNY Cortland include small/competitive class sizes, faculty working in the industry, professionally staffed scenery and costume shops, audition opportunities beginning in the first semester and state of the art facilities renovated in 2014.

Our facilities include a 477-seat theater, a recital hall, a lab theater, a dance studio, and practice and rehearsal rooms.
