    Overview

New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) offers a wide range of interior design courses for undergraduate and graduate students - from classes that teach a new skill to foundation courses that build toward obtaining a degree.

NYSID is a single-discipline college that focuses on rigorously preparing interior designers to lead. This is a community of designers shaping the next generation of designers, a community of educators passionate about their students work. At NYSID, youll learn to design interior spaces that make an impact on communities, companies, and people. The College offers more than 200 courses, all related to interior design. From eight sequential design studios in which students learn residential, hospitality, retail, workplace, and healthcare design, to courses such as Environment & Behavior, Arts of China and Japan, and Professional Practice. Our curriculum balances the practical and conceptual to help designers reach their potential. We value the entire trajectory of interior design, with a wide range of courses in both residential and commercial design. Technology is a cornerstone of our curriculum: we offer courses in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3DMax, and more, while emphasizing a foundation in hand-drawing and drafting skills. Each of our 140+ instructors is a professional working in interior design or a related field. They are interior designers, architects, textile designers, engineers, lighting specialists, sustainability designers, artists, art historians, technologists, restorers, graphic designers, and photographers. Their knowledge is current, so our curriculum is constantly evolving. NYSIDs average class size is 13. Students have abundant and informal access to instructors and advisors. The intimacy of our programs creates a vibrant culture of mentoring in a collegial atmosphere. At NYSID, we believe in the potential for creative designers to solve business and humanitarian problems. A well-designed environment can help a child learn to read, a community to come together, a company to increase its productivity. In hands-on studio courses, our students tackle the real issues that businesses, communities, and people face every day.
