Since its founding in 1892 as a conservatory, the Ithaca College School of Music earns its reputation as one of the best in the nation. Offering world-class faculty, performance opportunities, updated facilities, liberal arts courses and career placement.
Since 1892, Ithaca has worked hard to earn its reputation as one of the top music schools in the country. Every day, our dedicated community of full-time faculty work to transform talented students into world-class professionals. Regardless of degree program, all music students perform in a competitive yet supportive environment. Our 24 ensembles include three bands, a symphony orchestra and chamber orchestra, six vocal ensembles, three jazz ensembles, and numerous chamber groups. The school hosts more than 300 concerts annually, and our ensembles have performed in high-profile venues such as Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and in international cities such as London, Dublin, and St. Petersburg, Russia. Students study in state-of-the-art facilities that are as functional as they are inspirational. Additionally, students live in a vibrant community surrounded by the stunning beauty of Ithaca and Cayuga Lake.
