Overview

Carlow University is a comprehensive Catholic masters university which prepares students for leadership and compassionate service in professional and personal life.

Since its founding in 1929, Carlow University has given students the knowledge, insight, tools, and experience to become leaders for the common good. Carlow is a university with more than 2,300 students (1,400 undergraduate and 900 graduate) and 500 faculty and staff.

Carlow University—formerly Mount Mercy College—was founded by the Sisters of Mercy to fulfill the citys need in providing a baccalaureate education to Catholic women. Today, Carlow engages its diverse academic community in a process of life-long learning, scholarship, and research. The University is dedicated to providing students with a learner-centered education, focusing on the individual.

Our secluded 14-acre campus is situated in the heart of Pittsburgh in the Oakland neighborhood—just steps from the citys best museums, medical institutions, restaurants, churches, and parks.
