Whether enjoying the sun rising above Lake Titicaca, tracking a wild boar in the Amazon Basin, dancing to salsa music in Lima, watching wheat sway in the shadow of the mighty Andes, or spying a rainbow forming above the ruins at Machu Picchu, you will be awed by Peru.
The contrasts of Peru permeate every part of the country. Despite its beauty, there are large discrepancies among socioeconomic classes and wide differences in standards of living throughout the country. There is need for help and aid in the wake of a divisive colonial legacy, natural disasters and decades of uneven development. Walking Tree invites you to travel with us in Peru, exploring and sharing in meaningful service and unforgettable adventure.

I truly believe in Walking Tree Travel because of their dedication to their mission and vision: providing experiences that motivate high school students to become global citizens through engaging and immersive programming around the world. They work around the clock to provide safe, challenging, immersive, culturally sensitive (and FUN!!!) programs for high school students. Working with local communities allows us to find homestay opportunities that give our students the chance to engage with people from all over the world. The programs are widely varied with activities and sites visited, but all with a focus on challenging students to grow and learn. Awesome company!!
Walking Tree Travel/Smithsonian Student Adventures is everything you want a high school student travel company to be. The company is small, intimate, and makes students and staff alike feel valued. This also means they have developed close knit connections between cross-national/cross-cultural partners. The founders of the company know the families students stay with -- it feels like one big family! Their approach to programming aims to breakdown stereotypes, increase global curiosity/knowledge, and get students excited about global citizenship. Highly highly recommend.
