While all of our traditional program locations are canceled for 2020, the Montana Summer programs will provide a space for kids to detach from the stress of COVID-19, unplug from technology, connect with an inclusive VISIONS community, and adventure in the wide-open spaces and grandeur of Montana.
Roll up your sleeves for a summer of big service projects and untrammeled adventure in the Big Sky State of Montana. See more stars arcing across the night sky than you could have imagined and dig your hands into the dirt to help farmers and ranchers provide food and sustenance to their communities. As the world takes pause during the current health crisis, VISIONS teens and leaders come together for an incredible summer to delve into matters of sustainability and conservation. Experience the grandeur and culture of the West, adventure in the Rocky Mountains, lend a hand to local folks and reflect on all that is important in our lives.
We look forward to boldly stepping into this new decade and future ever-mindful of our youth inheriting a planet that desperately needs our attention. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought grief but has also cast a light on our need for connection as we get through these challenging times with communitarian resilience. Now, we also prepare to fully embrace sustainability efforts and living in harmony with the natural world—and with each other.
This summer, VISIONS participants and leaders will collaborate with Montana’s farmers and ranchers who work tirelessly to provide food and sustenance to their communities. While keeping a social distance, we will work with these tenacious folks to grow and harvest food, care for livestock, turn compost piles, perhaps build sheds or barns, and also gain an understanding of what it takes to be a tenant of the land in a sustainable way. We will also have time for trail maintenance and forest service projects.
