We have a summer in Storrs for you!
UConn Pre-College Summer's Pre-Med: Human Anatomy and Physiology course provides high school students the opportunity to explore how the human body works through direct examination, simulation, and dissection at a nationally ranked public university campus.
Where will the future take you?
That's a hard question to answer, especially for high school students. UConn's Pre-College Summer can help students figure it out. Offered during Sessions 2, our Human Anatomy and Physiology course is the perfect starting point for students interested in learning more about entering the medical field.
Our Human Anatomy and Physiology course offers students an introduction to an introduction to systemic human biology, or how the heart, lungs, and musculoskeletal and nervous systems work together to help you function.
Students will be examining the way that people are put together and how the systems of the body work together through direct examination, similar to what you would see at a doctor's office, and you'll learn the basics of how to complete a physical exam. Students will learn through simulations using practice dummies or high level computers. This hands-on experience will teach students about the way that the body is assembled through dissection, where they will learn how the anatomy of the body's major organs relates to their function in the body.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update After careful consideration and comprehensive discussions with many who are deeply invested in the health and education of our students, we have decided that the most responsible course of action is to cancel all Pre-College Summer sessions. Unfortunately, the Program's focus on providing a residential experience with hands-on courses does not make online learning a realistic or feasible option.
