Young aspiring artists love our Teen Art Camp and college-bound students build their portfolio in our Portfolio Development Intensive.
At the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, we believe in the power of art to inspire, amaze, and enrich. We are the state’s largest institution dedicated exclusively to viewing, making, and learning about contemporary art and have been recognized as a leading arts institution for more than 80 years.
The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey offers teens two opportunities to enhance their artistic abilities during the summer.
TEEN ART CAMP (AGES 13 – 15)
Teen Art Camp is geared towards the more mature aspiring artist. Each week students will work on several projects in various media including painting, drawing, ceramics, and digital media.
PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT INTENSIVE (AGE 16 – 18)
The Portfolio Development Intensive offers students the opportunity to develop their entrance portfolio for submission to fine arts colleges. Based on the curricula and portfolio requirements of the top five leading arts schools, a specific topic is covered each week.
Cost and Session Information
Teen Art Camp:
- Weekly sessions are June-August
- Tuition: $400, except for Session 8: Proportion/Distortion for $340
Your child will explore a theme each week through different media and creative practices, guided by our creative team of teaching artists. Our faculty are all practitioners and experts in the creative field and can lead your camper in creating original projects designed to be challenging and fun to make. Each camper will have the opportunity to create up to 10 projects each week, exploring and learning various techniques as they paint, draw, sculpt, and more! Every camper, tracked by age and experience, participates in projects based on the exploration of weekly themes. Kids make connections between disciplines while documenting their discoveries through personal art creation! Each week is different. And each week-long section ends with your camper’s group putting together an art show in their homeroom studios for family and friends to see.
