SPI's Siena Italian Immersion Program gives high school students the opportunity to experience Italy from an insider's perspective. Siena is a beautiful medieval town built upon three hills in the heart of scenic Tuscany.
The summer brings a wealth of festivities, such as the thrilling Palio Festival, which SPI program participants have the opportunity to experience firsthand! Though small, Siena has a large student population, helping to create an intimate and studious environment that allows students to fully immerse themselves in Italian language and culture. With a plethora of places to explore and things to do — from socializing at local pizzerias and cafés to shopping, discovering theaters, and visiting world famous museums and art galleries — Siena truly is ideal for total immersion into the Italian language and way of life!

"My most memorable experience was definitely living with my homestay family. They immediately made me and my roommate feel right at home. We were basically their kids for the four weeks that we were there!!
I chose SPI because I wanted a full immersion program. I wanted to really speak the language and learn all about Italian culture. I didn't want to be on a tour, I wanted to feel like I was part of everything. And I really did - SPI was so awesome." -Sarah, Italy participant
