The Summer Engineering Exploration Program is an introduction to engineering concepts with a focus on creativity, teamwork, communication, and working across seven available engineering disciplines.
Students will be introduced to various disciplines as well as engineering design processes through a week long project which provides a design-built-test experience.
Participants will be in a lecture/experiment type setting, utilizing knowledge from the lectures to perform experiments in a specific discipline. We will cover an introduction to Electrical Engineering and with Magnetic Levitation Control experiment, spend time working on a wind turbine project.
A component of the syllabus will also cover an introduction to Materials Science, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, as well as visits to several top-tier research labs, like our wind tunnel and Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory. Students who have completed this program have gone on to apply to various engineering programs offered by Rensselaer's School of Engineering.
