This project combines Spanish lessons with an excellent opportunity to observe the medical profession first hand. Argentina shares many similarities to Europe and North America and the modern techniques used in hospitals will be extremely relevant to studying medicine and healthcare in the future.
During your time at the hospitals you will be exposed to many aspects of professional medicine in practice. You will visit a variety of different departments to allow you to observe procedures, work in maternity units, and help out on ward rounds. You will also get the opportunity to attend medical lectures as part of the program.
You will receive two hours of Spanish lessons a day. Classes are interactive and you will be given encouragement every step of the way. The lessons will involve medical vocabulary so you will be more at ease when you are in the hospitals. You can also put your new knowledge into practice on a daily basis through the immersion experience of living with a host family, getting to know the city of Cordoba, and mixing with local people. Whether you want to master the basics or improve on the Spanish you already know, the classes will be adjusted to your level.
Over the weekend we will take you into the hills outside of Cordoba to see traditional villages. There may also be an opportunity to visit the house that once belonged to the famous Argentine revolutionary, Che Guevara.
This project is also available as a 4-week program on select dates. If you stay longer you will receive twice the hours of Spanish lessons and be able to experience more departments in the hospitals. You will also be taken on more weekend trips in and around the vibrant Cordoba region.
