PIZARTS Summer Dance Intensive NYC is for emerging and professional dancers, choreographers, and interdisciplinary dance-artists interested in spending a month exploring New York City through site-specific dance and film.
PIZARTS Summer Dance Intensive NYC is an opportunity for dancers & choreographers to train, create, perform and explore movement throughout the city. The program includes daily technique classes, rehearsals, a site-specific performance film project, guest teachers and professional development focused on building a sustainable career in dance. Dancers & choreographers with a versatile background in contemporary, jazz, hip hop, modern, house, African, ballet, partner work and/or improvisation encouraged to apply. Directed by founder of Pizarts, Dance Entrepreneur Dominique Robinson (NYU M.A. Dance Education, ABT, Dance Gap Year) and LA/NY-based Choreographer/Creative Movement Director Zoe Rappaport (www.rappaportdance.com), this holistic approach to the business of dance will not just give participants exceptional training, but also the practical skills and knowledge to create their own path in our ever-evolving field. Participants will have the opportunity to perform and create their own work at their chosen site in New York City, and everyone will receive a final filmed product for their portfolio. The intensive will run in Manhattan for four weeks. Dancers are able to move in on the first of July and leave on the 30th of July. Program fees include room and board (if needed) in the beautiful Webster Apartments in Midtown Manhattan as well as two meals a day of your choosing.
