Join Pacific Discovery on summer journey to Ecuador that will take your breath away! It is impossible not to be in awe of this incredibly diverse country home to high Andean mountains, the Amazon jungle, fascinating indigenous cultures, volcanoes, hot springs, and stunning wildlife, beaches and marine environments in the Galapagos Islands.
Ecuador is one of the United Nations Environment Program mega-diverse countries in the world. It is a safe and welcoming country to travel in – Ecuadorians have an easy-going manner, speak Spanish comparatively slowly (so great for beginner and learner Spanish speakers), and are truly appreciative of visitors who take an interest in their culture and country.
Our one-month summer program combines a week of service-learning while home-staying with a wonderful community in the Andes, and three weeks of incredible educational adventure travel. Gain insight into the lives of indigenous Andean and Amazon communities. Immerse yourself in Spanish and improve your conversational ability. Hike, bike and zip-line through the Andes, and raft in the Amazon Basin. Follow in Darwin’s footsteps with a nature focused week island-hopping through the Galapagos, where you’ll have incredible wildlife encounters. You’ll return from this summer program inspired by all you’ve experienced and learned…and most likely planning your return there!
This summer abroad program is suitable for high school graduates, gap year students, university students and graduates, ideally 18 – 24 years. Optional transferable academic credit is available on this program. This program can be combined with the Peru Summer Program, for an incredible 2 month summer program experience in South America.
For an incredible summer experience, you can combine this program with any of our other exciting Summer programs for an inspirational 8-week educational travel experience. We offer summer programs in: Australia, New Zealand & Fiji, Thailand, Vietnam & Cambodia, Peru, Ecuador & Galapgaos
Pacific Discovery programs combine sustainable educational adventure travel, cultural immersion, experiential education, volunteer and community service projects, personal and leadership development, and tons of fun!
