The NYU Summer Piano Intensive offers instruction and mentoring appropriate for young artists pursuing concert careers, serious college-age students focusing on careers in performance, and advanced high school students preparing for conservatory auditions and competitions.
The emphasis of the NYU Summer Piano Intensive is on personal, artistic, and technical development. Special workshops will feature topics such as The Etude: From the 19th to the 21st Century and Influential Pianists and Performance Practice.
This years Summer Intensive will focus on the genre of the etude. Students will be asked to bring a fully prepared etude (by Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Scriabin, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Bolcom, Ligeti, Rakowski, Dusapin, etc.), as well as an additional work ready for performance and recording. Students are asked to bring additional works-in-progress, for coaching at daily lessons and master classes. Those who wish to be considered for recital performances should bring 30-minutes of music, at performance level.
Interested students, professionals and the general public who may not qualify for or do not wish to participate in the 2029 Summer Piano Intensive now have the opportunity to audit the workshop.
