Spend a few weeks of your summer on an epic wilderness adventure. Summit peaks and canoe through secret lakes, learning the skills to thrive in the outdoors. If you’re looking to spend your summer challenging yourself and learning to live in the wild, this is the course for you.
During this course, you’ll backpack and canoe through the Adirondack Forest Preserve, one of the oldest protected lands in the country. Depending on your course, you may begin either with the canoeing or the backpacking section. Either way, you will begin by learning basic camping skills, like cooking and setting up a tent. As the course progresses, you’ll take on more challenging aspects of wilderness travel, including navigating on and off trails and paddling your canoe through a network of waterways. You’ll also spend plenty of time learning about leadership and what it takes to help your group achieve its goals. By the end of this course, you’ll have the leadership and outdoor skills to pursue a lifetime of adventure.
