When school’s out during the summer, the library offers a cool retreat for free workshops. Examples include cooking demos, yoga, dance classes, craft workshops, films, and other programs suggested by and for teens, entering grades 6–12.
All are free and available on a drop-in basis, usually after 4:00 pm. These programs take place in the Teen Room, Meeting Room and Ossie Davis Theater.
Summer Reading Programs and Activities
A summer reading challenge lets students entering grades 7–12 read for their own enjoyment AND collect prizes, extra credit for school, and an invitation to an end-of-summer party. Sign-up at the end of June or beginning of July at the second floor information desk.
This twice monthly tournament takes place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 4:00 pm in the Teen Room. Gamers of all species are invited to join in for two hours of video game competing – prizes are awarded to the Tournament Champion! The competition is open to anyone in Grades 6 – 12. Contact our Teen Services Librarian for more information.
