Maine Sports Afield
Overview
In Maine Sports Afield campers will be immersed in a comprehensive 2 week outdoor training program designed to build on the basic skills of the archery and firearms hunter safety programs, will include activities such as trapping education, fly-fishing for trout, spin-casting for bass, and various hunting tactics.
A focus on specific hunting techniques provides the chance to learn waterfowl, turkey, moose, deer and other hunting traditions and skill sets. Campers will have a chance to build a portable hunting blind, learn how to select and set traps for furbearers, fish like a pro, and set up and shoot from various tree stands and blinds. A focus on safety, ethics, and proper technique will be emphasized. During this program, trips to various camps and wildlife areas enhance the experience. A trip to a bird hunting preserve will provide opportunity to get some hands on bird hunting experience in the field. Fishing outings will take place on the famous Upper Androscoggin River, beautiful Kezar Lake, and local trout streams and ponds.
