Whether you want to be a newspaper or yearbook journalist, this program is for you. We cover the basics: interviewing techniques; ethics of high school journalism; narrative writing for newspapers and yearbooks including news, sports, features, opinion, blogs, editorials, reviews and more._
You will have in-class time to practice what we teach, and well create a newspaper, articles for Chronicle Online, and multimedia projects in class. We will take a field trip to the Los Angeles Times editorial offices and printing facility. The program is led by Kathleen Neumeyer, adviser Harvard-Westlake's award-winning newspaper, The Chronicle.
