Experience the diversity of Panama on this two week service adventure! This program offers participants the opportunity to collaborate with local community members on sustainable development projects, Spanish language immersion, homestays, unique cultural exchange activities, and adrenaline pumping adventure.
The program begins in Panama City where participants take part in orientation, visit the Panama Canal, explore the unique history of Casco Viejo, and volunteer with a local partner which supports education and training for low-income minorities. We get into the groove with a Latin dance class and start to shake our Spanish language skills loose!
The next stage of the trip takes us to the homestay where our host families are excited to meet us and open their homes and hearts to us! We spend the days together working on service projects with the community. Projects usually include working with construction/infrastructure development, education/teaching kids English, and environmental initiatives. The afternoons and evenings are a highlight as everyone gets together to play soccer, enjoy game night, participate in a cooking class, and more! We say a tearful goodbye to our host families and feel satisfied knowing that we made a positive contribution to the community and built lasting relationships.
We make our way to the Caribbean coast where we stay on a private island and participate in community service projects alongside the indigenous Kuna Yala people. While visiting the islands we learn about their culture and try our hand at making molas. We finish our time here island hopping and snorkeling in the azure waters! It is a fun and relaxing way to celebrate all that we have accomplished together!
While we are sad to leave after an unforgettable and impactful experience, we bring home the friendships we’ve made and are excited to share the lessons we’ve learned!
