Students in rising grades 11-12 explore concepts & practices in film production from Emerson College, renowned as one of the nation's top film schools. Applicants selected for the program train in the art & technique of 16mm film production and earn 4 college credits.
As a student in the 16mm Filmmakers program, you will:
Learn the basics of non-synchronous 16mm film-making including camera operation, principles of cinematography and lighting for black-and-white film, non-sync sound recording and transfers, and picture and sound editing. The 16mm film production track is offered for college credit.
Gain extensive production experience including, but not limited to, creating story structure, cinematography, lighting, sound recording, and editing.
Develop strong and practical story ideas, visualize those ideas in storyboards, and realize those ideas in short films.
One of the main objectives of the 16mm Filmmakers Studio is to provide you with the necessary means and instruction to produce a portfolio film for your college applications.
