The Summer Transition Enrichment Program (STEP) is a six-week college academic readiness program for incoming freshmen of Cleveland State University:
STEP is designed for:
- Any new CSU students entering Fall semester and have placed into MTH 87 and/or ENG 100.
- Any new, college ready CSU students who need BIO 100 or BIO 200 in the Fall.
Q: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ATTENDING?
STEP saves you money. The Summer Transition Enrichment Program (STEP) is FREE. Students have the opportunity to save up to $3,700 while earning up to 7 credit hours.
STEP saves you time. Students who satisfactorily complete the Summer Transition Enrichment Program fulfill prerequisites to make them eligible for math or English courses that apply toward graduation. (MTH 87 cannot be applied toward the completion of graduation requirements.) Successfully completing the math or English prerequisite in this summer program allows students to enroll in the courses required for the first semester of their freshman year.
STEP prepares students for the college experience. The Summer Transition Enrichment Program experience prepares students for the rigor of college level academics, campus life, and helps students develop adult learning strategies and skills.

A: The Summer Transition Enrichment Program (STEP) is FREE. There are no additional fees for materials or books.
