Picture yourself immersed in a once-in-a-lifetime experience, with Machu Picchu as your backdrop and the Sacred Valley at your feet. Students attending this 4-week CIEE Global Navigator program in Cusco, Peru, will deepen their knowledge of Spanish and Peruvian culture and earn 4 college credits!
Gaze at the stars, discover ancient treasures, take in the mind-blowing culture all around you. The former Incan capital of Cusco, famous for its ancient ruins, is also the gateway to Machu Picchu — one of the seven modern wonders of the world. It’s no wonder that adventurers from around the globe put this destination on their bucket list.
You’ll take language and culture classes at a local center each morning. Afternoons are for practicing your language skills with local peers, going to museums and historical landmarks, engaging in fun cultural activities, and hanging out with friends.
For four weeks you’ll live with a local homestay, practicing your Spanish as you prepare and share meals, shop at local markets, and mingle with villagers who are bilingual in Spanish and Quechua, the local indigenous language. It’s all part of the mix, or mestizaje, of Andean and Catholic traditions, and of old and new — and New Age — that makes this South American experience so unique.
