CIEE High School Summer Abroad: Promoting Children's Rights & Education in Hyderabad, India

Overview
Open whole new worlds of language and learning to underprivileged kids of all ages! Students who attend this 3-week CIEE Global Navigator program in Hyderabad, India will teach and mentor children and teenagers through activity-based lessons and English conversation practice.
Morning yoga and intercultural classes inspire you for your daily mission: teaching and mentoring young boys and girls, to make a difference in the slums of Hyderabad. Here you’ll work with a nonprofit organization (NGO) in government schools to teach subjects such as language and storytelling, math and science, or health and hygiene in ways that make learning more engaging and fun.
Teaming up with another participant, you’ll teach the same group of children for the entire stay, giving a chance to build a rapport with them and witness their progress. The children naturally benefit from exposure to native English speakers, so get ready to see their language skills grow day by day while listening, practicing and interacting with you!
In Hyderabad, you’ll see all sides of Indian life – from poverty to luxury, from traditional to ultramodern. During classes at the university, working onsite with the NGO, and back home in your hostel on campus, you’ll bond with your all-female CIEE cohort and reflect on your daily insights. Cultural activities and overnight excursions will take you to amazing palaces, mosques and temples, and to centuries-old markets, filled with spices, silk and sandalwood. You’ll also visit the largest Tibetan settlement in India and a Jain temple with the world's tallest monolithic stone statue.
