For more than 30 years, Choate has offered a variety of study abroad programs in the summer to high school students. Native teachers experienced with teaching American students and carefully selected host families make for an unforgettable experience in the language and culture.
Located in Beijing, this 5-week summer term program balances language immersion and course work with an exploration of urban and rural development in Beijing and Shanghai.
Through their studies, homestay with local Beijing families, and explorations outside of the classroom, participants dramatically improve their language fluency in four essential language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. In addition, daily immersion in the Chinese culture allows students gains in self-confidence and a better understanding of themselves as global citizens while they hone interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication skills.
