Champlain College: Art & Design Portfolio Building Pre-College Summer Course
Overview
The Pre-College Art & Design Summer Program is a 16-day intensive summer learning program that provides current high school students (rising Juniors and rising Seniors) with an opportunity to create new works or refine their personal portfolios, get a taste of college life and earn three transferable college credits.
Students can choose to specialize in graphic design, film & video, game art, or creative media. Students spend much of each day in the studio creating or preparing their work for presentation. They are also encouraged to bring their existing work for review and will receive personalized and constructive advice on how to refine their portfolio for college admittance. The studio experience begins with an immersion in 2-D design foundational studies, including observational drawing, an introduction to color and composition, and digital skill building.
Using the state-of-the-art facilities at the hillside campus of Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, students work closely with nationally-recognized, industry-experienced professors and staff and connect with other highly-motivated students through a common interest in art and graphic design. When not attending class or doing creative work, students enjoy recreational activities as well as cultural and social events that highlight the unique advantages of summer in Vermont.
