Dive into international development. Explore global health issues and concepts. Experience Ho Chi Minh City.
Travel to Ho Chi Minh City and take a multi-perspective approach to unpacking development and global health. Learn key concepts and theories in class, then step out into the city and see it all in action.
Your core class, Introduction to Development and Global Health, provides you with a comprehensive look into the mission of international development, key terms, major stakeholders in the field, and the role of global health within society and government. The class also uses Vietnam as a case study in which to examine these factors in reality.
Your classes will be held at the CET Center in the famous District 1, just within walking distance from your housing accommodations. The compound houses several small coffee shops and canteens, and there’s plenty of common space to hang out and study with your peers after class is out.
Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) is an unpretentious city that embraces both the old and the new. While exploring the city’s 24 districts, you’re as likely to stumble across a modern art space as you are a Buddhist temple. Have dinner on a rooftop restaurant with your cohort. Attend a traditional water puppetry show. Take in the buzzing energy of the local food market. With that kind of juxtaposition, you couldn’t ask for a better environment for studying international development.
