Camp Wa-Klo is a traditional, New England, sleep away camp that gives girls the time to work, play, think, relax, be with friends, or to be alone in order for her to feel secure in the belief that she belongs to Wa-Klo, and Wa-Klo belongs to her.
At Camp Wa-Klo, meet new friends, plunge in the lake, dance for dessert, hoist a sail and enjoy the mountain winds, laugh, smile, sing, cheer, ride a horse, roast marshmallows on an open fire, enjoy the best that summer camping can offer at Wa-Klo.
Surrounded by woods and trees and an exquisite view of Mount Monadnock, our beautiful facility includes a magnificent waterfront, striking playing fields, and outdoor courts for tennis and basketball. Dedicated activity venues for archery, gymnastics, softball, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, and volleyball are outfitted with equipment for all skill levels. Extensive facilities allow programs to run “rain or shine”.
Wa-Klo is strong in four major areas—horse riding, arts, land and water activities, which is perfect for an all-around camping experience. Our equestrian program is one of the best in the region that offers a scope of possibilities while learning to ride. The arts program is wonderful with opportunities in both visual and performing arts. Land activities include a variety of individual and team sports not to mention camp craft and gardening options plus Pet Care that includes bunnies, a calf, sheep, goats, and a small horse. Water activities are vast and invigorating.
Girls completing 10th, 11th and 12th grades are invited to participate in our three-year Leadership Training Group (LTG) program. This spirited bunch of girls always has a memorable opening celebration for council fire, the best skits, and the most fun. Most of our young campers want to be an LTG when growing up, for the impact the LTG’s have on the campers is immense. This is a high school girl’s chance to learn to be a mentor, develop skills for a possible counselor position, and to stretch the brain’s creative muscle when designing a full-camp event.
