    Overview

Camp Thorpe was founded as a place for children with special needs to experience summer camp. Today we provide an authentic summer camp experience to both children and adults. Camp Thorpe offers Swimming, boating, fishing, arts and crafts, singing, camp fires, dance, music and sports all in a safe, inclusive, rustic environment.

Camp Thorpe is a summer camp for children and adults with moderate special needs. We offer experiences for individuals with developmental, intellectual and physical disabilities. Our campers range in age from 12 through older adults.

Our typical camper thrives in a 3-camper-to-one-counselor ratio for a 6 or a 12-day session of camp. Campers should be able to thrive in a rustic camp environment, traverse uneven and hilly grounds (with assistance), and able to participate in adapted summer camp activities.

At Camp Thorpe, we want each camper to leave with feelings of self-respect, new leisure skills, and respect for others and for nature. Camp Thorpe has both a children’s camping program (Mountain Reach) and a camping program designed for adults (Pine Haven).

Camp Thorpe offers Swimming, boating, fishing, arts and crafts, singing, camp fires, dance, music and sports all in a safe, inclusive, rustic environment. Camp is located on 171 acres abutting the Green Mountain National Forest.
