The Calhoun Jazz Workshop is a one-week intensive series of day-long classes, workshops and ensemble playing opportunities designed to provide an immersion and/or introductory experience for high school students to the world of jazz improvisation and music.
Students form ensembles and learn the basics of jazz improvisation; explore jazz history by listening to significant recordings and viewing performances; learn fundamentals of music theory necessary for improvisation; and above all, get a chance to make music with other students.
