Overview

You will get the opportunity to learn how the United States really conducts its foreign policy and manages its national security concerns from a unique insider’s view — our instructors have extensive real-world experience, and include a former US Air Force general, a former Ambassador, and a former CIA officer.

In the mornings, you will learn from these leading practitioners in a dynamic, discussion-based interdisciplinary environment. Your afternoons will be devoted to challenging simulations and real-world exercises where you get to play the part of national security officials, diplomats, and spies.  You will also participate in team activities.

This program will conclude with student-led briefings on a team project dealing with foreign policy and national security issues.  After researching and analyzing alternatives, you will present your findings and suggested course of action to, and be questioned by, a panel of experts. These remote presentations will be attended by your peers, families, and members of the BU community.

Over the course of this program, you will:

  • Gain valuable insight into how the U.S. conducts its foreign policy and manages its national security concerns
  • Study with faculty that have real-world military, diplomatic, and espionage experience
  • Practice policymaking, diplomacy, and intelligence work while gaining valuable insight into how these processes operate
  • Learn and practice effective oral communication and teamwork skills

There are plenty of remote social activities to make sure everyone becomes familiar with BU and each other! You can participate in scheduled group activities and will be able to mix it up and join students in our other programs for a variety of scheduled remote events.
