The Barnard Pre-College Urban Studies Summer Institute turns New York City into your classroom. Female students entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade enroll in a special topics Urban Studies courses covering subjects such as activism, architecture, sustainability, and human rights.
In addition to their coursework, students will work on a collective project in partnership with Barnard’s Empirical Reasoning Center. The project will walk through students through trends and data sets to analyze issues affecting urban areas such inequality, housing, and criminal justice. Students will be able to present their capstone project at a final poster presentation at the end of the program.
