The Barnard Precollege Empirical Reasoning Summer Institute immerses female students in the world of policymaking, social justice and the use of data to enact change. Students spend two weeks uncovering how and why policies impact society, both in the United States and internationally.
Topics to be explored include criminal justice, housing, immigration, health care, and women’s rights.
Outside of the classroom, you will be able to see justice in motion through workshops, site visits to organizations that serve NYC, and a group capstone project that explores a social problem and provides solutions. By the end of their two weeks, students will be equipped with the language of social justice and the skillset to be changemakers in their communities and beyond.
