Experience the bustling streets of Delhi. Teach English to local school children as the Himalayan peaks tower above you. Watch the sun rise over the majestic Taj Mahal, and much more on this 24 day program in India.
We begin in New York and board an evening flight to Delhi where we jump right into the bustling magical mayhem of India. We acclimatize to our new surroundings with the help of our partners, spending our days learning about the culture, sampling some of India’s diverse and delectable cuisine, wandering through elaborate bazaars, and exploring age-old empires.
Into the Himalayas
Catching a short flight to Leh, a small village surrounded by the striking peaks of the Indian Himalayas. In this charming Buddhist region, one that closely resembles Tibet, we have the opportunity to explore and visit mountaintop monasteries, all the while learning about the Tibetan influence in this region. We begin to plan for our teaching segment and take one day to visit a special self-sustaining community outside of Leh, where we learn about local conservation issues.
English Teaching & Playground Construction
We make our way through the lush valley landscape to a rural Ladakhi school where we set up our base camp for the next four days. We spend our mornings working in the school leading an English tutoring and conversation program, and the afternoons constructing much-anticipated playgrounds and refurbishing the simple library. Evenings are spent under the stars, sharing games and cultural interactions with the local families, while furthering our knowledge of the slower-paced Ladakhi lifestyle.
The Taj Mahal
We step aboard our first Indian train, bound for Agra! Settling into the gentle rhythms of the rails, we observe India in all her glory, passing through cities, villages and everything in between. The next day we rise before dawn to catch the sunrise over the Taj Mahal, marveling at its beauty and grandeur and snapping the iconic photos that we will treasure forever.
We engage with the children, while partaking in their customs and chores. We spend our final evening enjoying a delicious final feast and celebrating our trip. We reflect on the memories that we have made and the amazing friendships we have forged. As per ARCC tradition, we spend a late night as a group, sharing our special memories of this special summer program in India.

I had the most amazing time traveling with ARCC for my second summer in a row. I made the most amazing friends that I know I'll keep in touch with for a really long time (they're coming over in two weeks) and so many incredible memories on this amazing trip. I never felt unsafe while in India but was always alert just to be safe, which you should always be while traveling. Our hotels were all very clean and safe, and our guides were amazing. We went through IBEX travel company and had a great experience. Camping was some of the most fun I've ever had especially because we got to know our group, the 17,000ft foundation, and the villagers so well since we spent so much time together. It is a very adventurous and culturally rich trip that you will not regret going on. Another concern a lot of people had was food, and I had never eaten Indian food before, but never got sick and there were always a variety of spicy and less/non spicy options. We always made sure to eat in safe and clean restaurants to avoid food poisoning. ARCC is amazing and I know that while traveling with them I can rely on them 100%. My bag got lost for the first few days of the trip and the leaders as well as the office handled it amazingly and I got it back in no time! I HIGHLY recommend ARCC they are such an incredible, organized, and well-run company. They make the group feel like family and ARCC is literally a family to me. I can't wait to travel with them again in the future!!
My son went to India with ARCC this summer and he had a wonderful time. The itinerary allowed for doing meaningful service, exploring cities and the country and learning all about the culture. The leaders were outstanding and did a great job of having the kids bond early on. The kids stayed in hotels and camped which was a nice mix. The trip made a huge impression on him and he still talks about it. The home office did a great job of keeping us updated of where the group was at all times. I highly recommend this trip.
My 18 YO daughter went on ARCC's 21 day trip to India and it was a life changing event. The trip was well planned and the leaders were FANTASTIC. She made amazing friends and will undoubtedly return to India again. The leaders worked to create a cohesive group and they were very bonded by the end of the trip. The office staff was amazing in assisting with visa's and packing lists. I highly recommend ARCC!
