This program is ideal for those who want to test the waters of outdoor adventure or for those who simply have a busy summer but still want to fit in some outdoor fun. Whatever the case, NEMC is a great way to explore New England and try out something new!
Our first full day together will be spent with certified instructors on a ropes course where we?ll work on team building skills and get to know one another. Next we?ll head north to New Hampshire?s White Mountains for some spectacular day-hiking in the Presidential Range. We?ll set out on a variety of hikes, many taking us above tree line where we?ll eat lunch in beautiful alpine meadows with breathtaking views. We?ll discover hidden waterfalls, make a summit attempt of Mt. Washington, New England?s highest peak, swim in cool mountain streams, and keep an eye out for moose and other wildlife.
From the White Mountains, we?ll head northeast for Maine?s Kennebec River. With our professional guides we?ll spend an exciting day whitewater rafting the rapids of this great New England river. Our last stop on trip will take us to Maine?s coast where we?ll spend a final day together sea kayaking. We?ll paddle along Maine?s rocky coast, explore the islands, and picnic at water?s edge. The grand finale of our trip will be a festive farewell dinner in historic Portland, Maine before heading back to the Boston area to meet parents. A perfect ending to the perfect New England camping adventure!
This is a beginner to moderate trip designed for motivated and cooperative students.
