We offer exciting, rewarding outdoor adventure education for youth ages 12-18 ranging in length from 5-20 days. Teen Wilderness Adventures combine one or more outdoor activities--like hiking, rock climbing, backpacking, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, --with spectacular destinations.
Explore the high peaks of the Presidential Range on this classic White Mountain adventure. Your journey will take you into the alpine zone for challenging climbs to reach spectacular views. If weather allows, you can expect to hike over summits such as Madison, Monroe, and Washington.
This itinerary is both challenging and rewarding, including long days and strenuous terrain. You will travel from one backcountry campsite to the next, linking some of the most iconic 4000 footers in the Whites. Teamwork and efficiency will be the theme of this course in order to overcome challenges as a group, and learning the necessary backcountry skills s to stay comfortable and safe. Age 15-18
Day 1: After an introductory meeting with instructors, group and parents, gear is checked and issued. After Lunch the group heads to the trailhead and begins their hike to the first campsite where they learn about camp set up, cooking on a camp stove, and sleeping comfortably in the backcountry.
Day 2-3: The group works together to break down camp. Goes over their route for the day, and hit the trail for their next camp site stopping for lunch and breaks along the way and passing one or more 4000' summits along the way if weather allows. After arriving in camp, the group may play a game, or participate in team initiatives, or have some down time to reflect on their experience in the outdoors.
Day 4-6: The group continues to travel to more back country campsites, refining their outdoor skills, and developing friendships and enjoying scenic views along the way.
Day 7: The group will hike to Pinkham Notch visitor center in the morning where they will have lunch, de-issue borrowed equipment and debrief their trip before being picked up in the afternoon.
